Something remarkable is happening in the spiritual lives of young people in the UK right now, we’re seeing a hunger for ‘spirituality’ amongst a Generation of young people who are seeking for some hope in what can increasingly feel like a world spinning out of control. A recent article in The Guardian, has noted that Bible sales in the UK reached a record high in 2025—up 134% since 2019—with many of those buyers being young adults curious about purpose and meaning.
What’s more, those who seem to be buying buying Bibles and seeking out spiritual resources are people with little or no previous Christian background, especially younger generations searching for answers about life, meaning, and identity.
This trend challenges the long-held assumption that younger people are entirely secular or uninterested in faith. Instead, it suggests that many are open to exploring spirituality and that Christianity, the story of Jesus and the Bible, is drawing fresh attention for its depth, hope, and answers to big questions.
So what does this mean for us here at Camberley Youth for Christ?
The article’s research shows that a growing number of young people are:
-
Seeking spiritual meaning and personal insight
-
Exploring faith outside their family background
-
Turning to scripture and spiritual conversations for direction
The exciting news is that this isn’t just happening somewhere else in the UK far from our churches, it’s happening right here on our doorstep in Surrey Heath! young people are curious, questioning, and ready to engage with the Christian faith.
We know that exploring faith can be exciting, confusing, and deeply personal and behind every surge in Bible sales and church attendance are real stories of people searching for truth. A truth that Camberley Youth For Christ believes can only be found in Jesus, but many young people don’t know where to start. Searching for answers on the internet is a minefield that can take you down some strange paths if you don’t know what you’re looking for and there’s a lot of misleading information if you stumble across the wrong influencers.
